Stage House Tavern Somerset is a lively American restaurant and bar nestled in an old farmhouse setting on Amwell Road, offering a mix of cozy indoor seating, a vibrant bar area, and a pleasant outdoor space. It leans into a casual yet bustling atmosphere that suits a range of visitors—from after-work crowds to families taking advantage of weekday specials.

The menu strikes a balance between classic American comfort and elevated tavern fare. Notable picks include warming starters like the French Onion Soup and Crab Dip, hearty mains such as Pulled Pork and Tavern Beef Stroganoff, and fresh takes like the Lobster Roll or the generous Stage House Nachos. Their house-made ravioli, available as both appetizer and entree, highlights a thoughtful dedication to fresh, made-from-scratch dishes. The drink list complements the food with approachable cocktails like the French Vanilla Martini, alongside a well-stocked bar.

Local regulars seem drawn to the mix of sitting options, whether grabbing a casual bite at the bar or settling in at a table outside on a sunny evening. Weekday specials add to its appeal—Wednesdays bring kid-friendly deals and low-priced oysters, while Tuesdays feature “buck a cluck” deals, setting a fun, budget-conscious tone for early-week dinners. Happy hour also shines with variety and value.

While the venue can get noisy during busy times, especially on weekend nights or holidays, many appreciate the lively vibe it creates for socializing. Service experiences appear mixed; some find the staff attentive and accommodating, while others note occasional delays—something to keep in mind if you’re in a rush.

Stage House Tavern works well for groups looking to unwind after work, families seeking casual dining with offers for kids, or anyone in the area craving straightforward American dishes with a touch of homemade flair. The combination of multiple seating areas and rotating specials means there’s often a seat and a deal that suits the day’s mood.

Really liked the food - especially the steak. The drinks were decent. It’s a great place to hang out post work with plenty of options to sit - the bar, restaurant, outdoors etc It can get a bit noisy though. Service wasn’t the greatest. She kept forgetting things - to place the order, bring the drinks, get the menu etc. On Wednesdays kids eat free. There are different offers on different days

Wednesday all day buck a shuck on oysters! Bluepoints and the mignonette are great. Honestly can’t beat it. Great happy hour 3-6. Tuesdays buck a cluck. They have great deals here during the week that’s for sure. Great outdoor eating and great bar vibes. Come and have a good time. Enjoy yourself!

We came here for Thanksgiving. This was my first time here, it came highly recommended by my brother. The restaurant is in a beautiful old time farmhouse. There was a slight walk from the parking lot. Although it was very busy our waitress was wonderful and so helpful. She even brought us these delicious homemade biscuits which I loved and she promptly refilled our drinks. Their Thanksgiving buffet was very good. They were extremely crowded around the time we came (which was around noon) but within about 30 minutes it started to thin out. They had shucked oysters and a shrimp stir-fry. I think it would have been better to have peel and eat shrimp than these items. There was turkey on the buffet (actual large, thick pieces of turkey breast) and they also had bone-in pieces that they carved (such as legs), as well as ham, roast beef and other hot and cold items. There was an automatic gratuity of 20% added to the check which was more than fair and I also added an additional tip for the waitress. I paid cash, they take credit cards but my understanding is they charge a service charge for credit card payments which is fairly common for independent restaurants in this area. Their dessert was also very good and they even had hard ice cream. I saw that they offer all-you-can-eat fish and chips on Fridays and a Sunday brunch as well. I will be sure to make reservations to come again. We all enjoyed it.
